So, in this master class I will tell and show how to make this happy, fat cat. For felting, we need the actual wool itself for dry felting (here I use RTO wool) of two colors - I took the chestnut and light cream, but you can take other colors typical of the color of the cats. Also, a little sintepon is useful for filling, but not necessarily, you can take just a little more wool. Felting needles of the form itself I use Coarse No. 36, and Thin No. 40 for sinking parts (I have Gamma). As a porous pillow, I used a regular kitchen sponge for washing dishes. You will also need beads for the nose and eyes, a transparent universal glue, and a small piece of wire to give density to the legs on which the shape will rest.
Let's start with the head. Wrap a small piece of synthetic winterizer in the coat of the main color.
And we begin to roll on the sponge with a rough needle, giving the hands a rounded shape for the future head.
If in the process somewhere there are sintepon spots, add another layer of wool. The needle at this stage should enter vertically, as deep as possible, so that the inner cavity of the head is well respected, while the outer part remains loose for further processing.
When the ball becomes more or less elastic, it is time to give it the shape of a future head, here you need to immediately make “eye sockets” - holes in which we will paste the eyes, they can be made repeatedly “poking” in the same place, symmetrically to each other.
Farther is the turn of the eyes themselves, here you have room for creativity: you can make them out of wool, fabric or mold them from polymer clay and color them, you can pick up beads, I used "running eyes" bought in a needlework store.
Now let's add a little "lazy" severity to the look, rolling small pieces of wool as eyelids.
Separately, I made small cheeks on the sponge and rolled them to her head over them, outlined her mouth to the animal.
We roll all paired parts at the same time, taking the same amount of wool to achieve symmetry. I added a little light hair to the inside of my ears.
Glued the nose out of a bead (can be piled from dark wool), added a mustache from a thick fishing line. Here's a head out.
We create a little body on the same principle as a head.
Initially, we give the shape a pear-shaped figure, when it becomes sufficiently elastic, we outline a round belly, and future toy hips.
We highlight the belly with light hair (do not forget about the navel;)).
And we fix the head with the help of an additional piece of wool.
Now thoroughly roll the butt of the toy, it should become solid, otherwise our cat will not be able to confidently sit on it. At the next stage, we look through the whole body for the presence of "flaws", if somewhere there are holes, then they need to be carefully filled with wool, the main thing is not to overdo it. Why this type of needlework is good, you always have a chance to redo what you don’t like, without harming the whole work, but you need to know the measure, otherwise you can endlessly redo being carried away.
For the front paws, additional support is needed, I used a not very thick, but sufficiently elastic wire, rounding it on top so that it would not slip inside the foot. Wrap it with wool and start felting, here the needle should go parallel to the wire.
Such paws came out.
The hind legs can be made without a wire base, a little thicker than the front, I wanted them to cross.
And of course, the most important thing for any cat is its beautiful tail!
We roll it to the animal. I tied a bow tie made of organza to my fat man, that's what I got:
