Industrial style is now in fashion again! Why not do something unusual to freshen up your home decor? For example, you can make an original coffee table with your own hands - a combination of metal and natural wood will perfectly complement the surroundings.
Despite the rather simple design of the "industrial" coffee table - a wide wooden tabletop, "planted" on a welded metal frame - behind such elementaryness lies a pronounced originality and good sense of style.
The main stages of work
First of all, from a steel strip 100 mm wide and 5 mm thick, cut off with a grinder or on a cutting machine four pieces of suitable length. We do the same with a strip of width 75 mm (the thickness is the same). The result should be eight blanks. We clean the edges with a grinding disc.
At the next stage, we weld the resulting plates in pairs - we get four blanks. Next, you need to connect the large and small plates perpendicularly to get a T-shaped part. We apply the marking, after which we cut out two legs with a slot inside on a band saw.
We process the legs
In the lower and upper parts of the legs of the coffee table using a metal drill bit, drill holes for fastening. Then we cut out four narrow sections of 100 mm long from a narrow strip and weld them to the base of the legs - these will be the supporting "heels".
Along the entire contour of the legs, it is necessary to weld a steel strip 4 mm wide. Then we connect them using two steel rounds, having previously cut the threads along the edges. Fix with nuts and washers.
Making a countertop
At the last stage, we cut out a tabletop for a coffee table from a wide solid board (if there is no solid board, the tabletop can be glued together). Then we install the fastenings on the sides and fasten them to the legs with bolts. We cover the finished countertop in several layers with mineral oil.
