In plumbing, and household practice, there are often cases when it is necessary to connect to a pipe, to drain water. Let's say to connect a washing machine. To do this, they usually pull a water pipe or hose to an adjustable manifold, or saw a pipe and install a tee.
In old Soviet houses, pipes are so uncomfortable and awkwardly laid that connecting to them is equivalent to having to sort through the whole system again.
But there is a way! You can make a tie with a clamp in any nearby trunk. So, more details ...
How to make a simple tie-in to a steel pipe with your own hands
What do you need?
- Drainage (insert) - 1 pc.
You can buy it in plumbing stores, but before that, be sure to specify what kind of pipe you have to which the connection will be made. I took 1/2 inch.
Here's what it looks like:
Now go directly to the connection. First of all, we block the riser and drain the water.
Then we drill a hole with a drill for metal. The diameter of the hole must be equal to or less than the diameter of the insert.
Next, we sandpaper the place to put on the clamp. The surface should be flat, without old paint and rust. We dress the tie-in insert, before that we install the sealed gasket that comes complete with the insert.
Next, carefully tighten the 4 tie-in bolts. It is necessary to twist carefully, alternately, it is better crosswise. This is necessary so that the gasket sits better, but the clamp does not warp.
The box is ready. We connect the necessary hose to it.
Turn on and check for leaks. To do this, I recommend using a paper towel or toilet paper, because drops are immediately visible on it, and the hand of all this may simply not be felt.
Also, after tapping, it will not be superfluous to install a tap before connecting the hose.
In general, such an insert will help you out, it would seem in the most hopeless situations.
The connection can be used for both cold and hot water. In addition, this is a very fast way and sometimes the only possible one.
